Rationalization

I remember some psychologist/self-help guru saying that if you watch a significant amount of TV every week, you're essentially making a lifestyle choice. You're choosing to sit in front of the television instead of, say, exercising or socializing or enriching your mind in some way. At first, that made me feel like a loser because I watch a lot of TV. Then, it made me angry, like, "Who are you to pass judgement on my choice of passtime?" Ultimately, it became a reason for starting this blog. If I employ my viewing habits to generate witty and insightful discourse (or at least half-way interesting observations), then my hours of watching TV can technically be considered research, right?
